Workforce Member - Faculty and Staff

If you work as a member of UC’s faculty and staff, you’re a Workforce Member and thus play a role in protecting our Institutional Information and IT Resources.

Your checklist includes these steps:

  1. Follow minimum security standards. See the list of basic cyber hygiene practices at UC.

  2. Promptly report violations. If you suspect or witness a Security Event, report it to your Workforce Manager or Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) as soon as possible.

  3. Complete all required security-related training for your Unit and/or Location. Make sure you have the training and resources you need to fulfill the security duties assigned to you.

  4. If you’re not sure, ask. Better safe than sorry: If you’re unsure of the best way to protect Institutional Information or IT Resources, ask your Workforce Manager or CISO.

If you’re working with information classified at Protection Levels 3 or 4 or IT Resources that require a high level of availability (A3 or A4), you’ll need to plan for some additional controls. Read Section III, Subsection 8.2.1: Classification of Institutional Information and IT Resources for specific definitions of data protection levels. Then work with your Unit Information Security Lead and/or CISO to develop a plan. Click here for more information about Protection Levels and Availability Levels.
